Chef Claude Bouillet presides over new neighbourhood bistro

With the rejuvenation of St. Clair West comes LEOPOLD, a new French bistro that offers a

straightforward menu with an emphasis on fresh, reasonably priced, classic French fair.

LEOPOLD’s proprietor and sommelier Carlos de Loddere, (Starfish, Pastis) welcomes Chef Claude

Bouillet who many Torontonians will remember from his time at Queen Street West’s Le Bistingo

Restaurant in the mid-80’s. LEOPOLD is located at 672 St. Clair West, at Christie Street.

“Leopold is a lively neighbourhood bistro with an emphasis on excellent food, a straightforward

menu, and good service,” says proprietor Carlos de Loddere. “We look forward to becoming a

destination for authentic bistro food along St. Clair Avenue West.”

LEOPOLD follows the philosophy of a true bistro, offering what is fresh and available. The menu will

be seasonable with specials offered most days. Starters include the signature dish Poellee of

Escargot Sauce "Luma" (this recipe is provided courtesy of the Chef’s grandmother), Terrine Maison

with Gherkins and Yoghurt Leopold, a unique creamy yoghurt dish with, tomato, olive oil and

smoked salmon. Main course include Leg of Duck "en civet" with pearl onions, mushroom, smoked

bacon and red wine sauce; Ribeye of Beef "au poivre", with cognac, cream and crushed black

pepper sauce; Shrimps and Scallops, with leek and mushroom ragout in a light vermouth butter

sauce; Pan Roasted Ontario Pork Chops with onions and balsamic vinegar confit.

The reasonably priced wine list will feature offerings from mostly France and the US, with a

selection of featured wines each week. Fine wines will also be available. LEOPOLD will be open for

dinner only from Tuesday to Saturday from (5:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.).
